Future CHEW Dog
CHEW Dog Rescue is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to rescuing abandoned dogs, dogs scheduled for euthanasia due to shelter space limitations, and other dogs who need us.
Since the start of CHEW as a rescue organization, we have rescued and saved 1,455 dogs in 14 years. We are always looking to find additional foster homes and acquire funding for other essential elements of dog rescue to allow us to help more dogs in need.
CHEW (Canine Health Education and Welfare) is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization. We also promote responsible dog ownership including canine health and behavioral topics.
Your Next Steps
Adoption Process
1. Complete an Adoption Application form.
2. Applicants are screened and reviewed together with the dog’s foster. If your application is selected, you will receive an invitation to meet with CHEW by video or phone call. If all looks like you are a good match for the dog, next comes the Meet & Greet.
3. Bring anyone who will live with the dog to the Meet & Greet, including any other dogs in the household. Typically, these meetings are held in a public park or pet store in Gig Harbor, WA.
4. CHEW’s adoption coordinator will conduct reference checks. CHEW will also conduct a home safety check.
5. If approved, you’ll meet again to sign the adoption paperwork, pay any fees, and take home your new furry friend!
Adoption Fees
Most of the dogs have been spayed or neutered (unless under the age of 6 months), vaccinated, checked for other health issues and microchipped. Adoption fee is typically $400.
