Meet HALO – The Little Dog with a Big Heart

HALO is a darling 1.5–2-year-old Chihuahua mix, and our vet thinks there may be a touch of Pug in his genes — especially when you see his sweet underbite and perfectly quirky grin!

This little guy is playful, affectionate, and full of personality. In his foster home, HALO shares his days with three other small dogs and has become a joyful member of the pack. He loves to play, chase, and cuddle up with his friends, showing off his goofy and loving nature.

HALO also spends time at a busy hair salon with his foster family, where he has quickly learned that the salon is a magical place — full of cuddles, cozy laps, and adoring fans. He happily soaks up attention from everyone who walks through the door, then curls up contentedly to nap amid the bustle.

At home, HALO knows how to relax too. He is potty trained, walks beautifully on a leash, rides nicely in the car and ferry, and sleeps soundly through the night snuggled up with his foster mama and pack. He’s also calm and comfortable in his crate for short periods, which has become a safe space for him when his person steps out. HALO can be a little worried when left alone, so he’ll thrive with someone who understands that he just loves being close to his people.

Whoever is lucky enough to make HALO part of their family will gain a loyal, loving companion who brings warmth, laughter, and devotion to every day. He’s ready to find his forever person — could that be you?

Your Next Steps

1. Complete an Adoption Application form.

2. Applicants are screened and reviewed together with the dog’s foster. If your application is selected, you will receive an invitation to meet with CHEW by video or phone call. If all looks like you are a good match for the dog, next comes the Meet & Greet.

3. Bring anyone who will live with the dog to the Meet & Greet, including any other dogs in the household. Typically, these meetings are held in a public park or pet store in Gig Harbor, WA.

4. CHEW’s adoption coordinator will conduct reference checks. CHEW will also conduct a home safety check.

5. If approved, you’ll meet again to sign the adoption paperwork, pay any fees, and take home your new furry friend!

Most of the dogs have been spayed or neutered (unless under the age of 6 months), vaccinated, checked for other health issues and microchipped. Adoption fee is $500.
